Who We Are

Amy Briney

Blue Line

Amy lives with her husband Tony and her two children. She earned her BA in Communications from the University of Michigan in 1992.

Prior to staying home with her children, Amy worked as a media supervisor at the Leo Burnett Company in Chicago. Currently, Amy is an active member of the PTO organization at her kids elementary school. She volunteers her time for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Horizons for Homeless Children as well as other local charities in her community.

Lori Mendik

Blue Line

Lori and her husband are the parents of two boys. While earning her Masters Degree in Art Therapy from Lesley University in Cambridge, she worked for the Walker Home and School in Needham.

She is active in numerous volunteer activities at her children’s school, and has worked with the Spiral Foundation for Occupational Therapy Associates in Watertown, Massachusetts. She enjoys swimming and biking and continues to create art of her own style.

Lori joined A Step Up in the spring of 2009.

A Step Up was founded in 2006 by Amy Briney, Pam Forman, Stacey Keenan, Gina Saltonstall and Carolyn Shaughnessy.

A Step Up Winchester was founded by Lisa Cleary, Pat Carrucci, Allison Brown, Debbie Johnston,and Margaret Wade. They can be reached at jsc3381@verizon.net

Stacey Keenan

Blue Line

Stacey resides in Needham, MA with her husband Matt and their three children. She earned a BA in Education from Wheelock College in 1995 and Masters in Special Education from Boston College in 1997.

Stacey worked as a special education teacher from the South Shore Educational Collaborative prior to staying at home full-time with her children.

Gina Saltonstall

Blue Line

Gina, mother of three and her husband live in Dover, MA. She earned her BA from the University of Vermont in 1989 and Masters in Elementary Education from Seton Hall University in 1991.

Gina taught grades 2-4 in both independent and public schools. In 2004 Gina started Hearts & Crafts, which provided art classes as well as birthday parties for children.

Gina continues to work with children directly through her latest venture called Discovery Club a Kindergarten Enrichment program in Dover MA.

Carolyn Shaughnessy

Blue Line

Carolyn lives in Needham, MA with her husband Sean and their 2 children. She earned her BA from Boston College in 1989 and Masters in Education from Boston University in 1993.

Carolyn developed and implemented programs for students with learning disabilities at Boston University, Wheaton College and George Washington University prior to staying home full time with her children.

Carolyn currently volunteers at her children’s school and in her local community.
